Joslyn JoAnne Roake, or Jo, as she prefers to be addressed, was born to Jacob and Holly Roake on October 9, 1989, and ever since then, she has been anything but typical. When she was younger, she was quite the tomboy. Rather than finding her in a skirt or dress with her hair in pigtails, she was the one with the jeans or shorts, her hair a mess and hanging in her face. She had more fun hanging out with boys, rather than playing dolls with the girls in the neighborhood. She'd choose a bike to a dollhouse anyday. She played in the dirt, chased frogs and lizards, and climbed trees. Though she hung out with the boys in the neighborhood, the only person she would consider her friend was her twin brother, Nate. They had always been extremely close, even having that odd, almost creepy connection. When one was physically hurt, the other would feel it. Once when she had attempted to climb the biggest tree in their yard, she couldn't quite grasp the next branch and fell, breaking her arm in the process. Her brother/sister had felt the pain with almost the sane intensity as she had. When one of them have their feelings hurt, the other feels the emotional pain, as well. The connection only caused them to grow closer, knowing that no matter what, at least there was someone who knew how they were feeling. As they began to get older, he began to form friendships with others, making her feel pushed away and insignificant in his/her life. While, as they got older, their closeness dwindled, they still share that connection and that bond.

At the age of twelve, their father passed away in a car accident, leaving them with their mother, who has been the driving force in their life, as well as their support system. She's close with her mother, but secretly began acting out. She doesn't do it to get into trouble, or to be a 'bad' child. She simply does the things in her life because, after her father's death, she believes that she should live everyday to her fullest and do the things that make her happy. Afterall, nobody ever knows if they will live to see another day. She lives her life on the edge, almost dangerously. She likes fast cars, loud music, and anything that makes her feel alive. She tends to party a little too often, and has even started dabbling in drugs every once in a while. Her mother is blind to it all, thinking that her little girl is innocent in everything. When she is at home, she flashes her large smile and appears like a little princess. Music is a huge part of her life, and she spends many, many hours a week just sitting around, playing her guitar and singing. She will only sing when she is alone, and won't let anyone hear her sing because she doesn't think she's all that great at it. While she's not so much of a tomboy anymore, she tends to gravitate more toward males for friendships, having always thought that females carry around too much drama. She does have a few close female friends, but the majority of her friends are males, just because she feels more comfortable around them. She is outspoken, and some would even consider her to be 'rude'. She isn't worried about people's opinions of her, and her blunt honestly sometimes puts people off, but once you get to know her you realize that she doesn't do it to be rude, intentionally, it's just the way that she is.

For the past couple of years, Jo has been dressing more feminine, having realized that she's growing up, and that her body isn't so bad. While she doesn't flaunt her body with revealing outfits, she does like to get dressed up every now and then when she's going out. She's still more of a jeans and t-shirt kind of girl, but she doesn't shy away from dresses. She is bisexual, but doesn't go out and try to pursue relationships, she just has fun and let's people pursue her if they are so inclined to do so. She's not too big on commitment. Sharing her feelings is something you will never find her doing, unless you are her brother/sister, and even then she's finding it harder and harder to do with him, seeing as how, since she has become more sexually aware of herself and dresses more feminine, he has become quite protective of her. Part of her hates that she always feels like she has to look over her shoulder incase he is somewhere nearby, watching out for her. The other part of her likes that she has someone who will be there for her, no matter what she does.

In the past several months, Joslyn has had a few relationships, and none of them turned out the way that she had expected. She has been burned several times, which has led to her having an even bigger wall up around herself. Now, she has the mentality that relationships will always turn out badly, so what is the point? Her main priority right now is her child. Yes, she has a daughter. Lily Monet Roake was born October 19, 2007, and that is the only thing she really focuses on anymore. During her pregnancy, she made sure she ate healthy, and even started telling her friends when they are eating something bad for them. It probably got annoying whenever she said, "you know, that's really bad for you", though that seemed to be the phrase she said the most in a twenty-four hour period. Because she is a mom, she feels that there won't be any men who would want to date her, and she doesn't even mind all that much. She likes to joke that she is a MILF either way. Her daughter is her main concern, and it's very evident in the way she now acts. The father of the child is no longer around, obviously, but she's okay with that, too.

Storylines

This is her twin brother. He's one minute older than her, and he is the most important person in her life. They have that creepy connection where, when one is hurt, the other feels the pain; both mentally and physically. Whether she'd like to admit it or not, his/her opinion weighs a lot on her, and she considers him/her to be her rock. As she's growing up and branching out more on her own, he/she is becoming more and more protective over her. While sometimes it drives her crazy, she also likes knowing that there is always someone she can depend on, no matter what. Though most of the time, they don't see eye to eye. -


The heterosexual life/soulmate. This is the one girl that Jo can trust. She knows she can tell her anything and it won't get out, and she won't be judged for the things she says, does, or feels. This girl is the only person, besides her brother, that knows her secrets. She gives Jo advice and helps her with the issues that she's going through. They're close friends which is something uncommon for Jo. And, unlike most females Jo encounters, she knows that she can trust this girl in every aspect. - lilahj


Her ex-fiance and the father of her child. They have a very rocky past, and have dated off and on over the past year and a half. During the time they dated in high school, his ex-girlfriend came town and things with Jo ended. Within a few days, he was engaged to his ex, and they moved out of town together so he could pursue his dreams. Within the month, he was married to his ex. Jo found out she was pregnant, then found out that his now wife was pregnant, as well, a little over a month behind her. So as not to mess up his family, when he came back to town to confront her about it, she lied and said that her baby wasn't his. He left town again, though came back when Jo was 7 months pregnant after his marriage ended. After he found out her child was his, they managed to be mature about their past together and be civil toward one another. It soon became a relationship again, and they became engaged. When Lily was about 7 weeks old, he said he felt he should fly out to be there for his ex as she had their child. He never came back. He's the main reason why she has become so guarded around men. - OPEN This line was filled previously, but the details can be worked out and made to fit your character.


This is her best male friend. They've known one another since diapers, and they still remain very close. They have a very affectionate relationship and will often cuddle or sit closely whenever they hang out. They tend to hold hands when out somewhere, or give one another light kisses (which Jo considers to be friendly). Because of this, people often think that they are dating, which they are not. - OPEN


The ex-girlfriend to her best male friend. This girl and Jo are mortal enemies. There is no real huge reason for their dislike for one another other than Shane being in the middle. Jo is used to Shane always babying her and doing whatever she needs him to do, but when he was with this girl he couldn't always do that, which made her instantly dislike this girl. This girl dislikes Jo because she knows how Shane would do whatever Jo needed, and thought that it wasn't right seeing as how he had a girlfriend. She still has a thing for Shane, and it only make Jo dislike her that much more for it. -


The man Jo was dating while in New York. They dated the entire time she lived there after meeting at a photoshoot. Only recently she was informed that he was married, and realized that she had become 'the other women'. It broke her heart because he had been everything she had always wanted in a man. He was a gentleman who respected her and loved her daughter and treated her the way a father would. OPEN
